The abject is what society creates with it´s boundaries, it is that what we are afraid of, disgusted by, it never can be part of us, only a-part, not us, but not-us. But without our negative there would be no positive (binary speaking) – the monster is the personified abject and in itself meaningless or free of meaning, but only with it society is able to define what is normal, good, healthy, common. The boundaries are set arbitrary and change with time and social movement(s). The implementations are fierce and people that wont or can´t obay these boundaries are open for punishment. This is what interests me, how does it tick, why is the outside(r) so scary to the insider, is there really a difference between in- or outside, and how can I draw it so the viewer might get a glimpse of how this leads to madness we call normality?
